The screen, the sound, Wi-Fi or the microphone not working on your computer? The hardware form collects what is needed to fix it.
A security problem
Please do not open a public issue. Report security problems privately; the security policy explains how.

Most answers are already written down:
- The FAQ and Troubleshooting: a forgotten PIN, a locked screen, updates.
- All the guides: from installing to phone access, step by step and with pictures.
- The panel's own Help page: in the top bar, on the computer itself, even without the internet. Beside the common questions it has eight step-by-step guides, which open without signing in:
| Guide in the panel | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Setting up email notifications | Alerts and the weekly summary with Gmail, Yandex or iCloud |
| Opening the panel on your phone | Four steps with Tailscale |
| Adding a child and their first login | A new child, and signing in with their picture |
| Time limits and hours | Daily time, allowed hours, special days |
| The internet, sites and searches | The filter, allowed sites, words that cannot be searched |
| Zio and Sio's voice | The natural voice, and recording your own |
| I forgot my PIN or passphrase | The recovery code and the admin commands |
| Protecting the computer itself | A BIOS password, booting from USB and the like |
What to put in a report
To sort it out faster together, tell us:
- The BioKids version: at the bottom of the panel (e.g. "BioKids 2.0.0").
biokids-admin versionin a terminal shows it too. - The Debian version, and whether it is a real computer or a virtual machine.
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened, step by step.
- If useful, the background service's latest log lines:
sudo journalctl -u biokids-daemon -n 200 --no-pager
When will I hear back?
BioKids is an open-source project made by one person in their own time. Every message is read, but a reply can take a few days. For an urgent security problem, follow the route in the security policy.
Contribute
BioKids is open to everyone's help: translations, hardware reports ("everything worked on this computer" is valuable too), bug reports and code. Read the contributing guide first: it explains how work is done and lists the features the project will not accept (covert monitoring, keylogging, screenshots the child is not shown, and the like). Everyone who takes part follows the Code of Conduct.
